‘House’ actor out, Clive Owen in? RoboCop remake news

It’s been rumored for quite some time that Hugh Laurie, star of the television show House, had been circling the role of the villain in the RoboCop remake.  It now appears that he has either dropped out or never actually signed on the dotted line.  Either way, he will not be in the film.

Deadline is suggesting that Clive Owen (Children of Men) is now on the short list to replace Laurie.  This is awesome news.  I love Clive Owen, and think he is a seriously under rated and under used actor.

There has been negative buzz circling this since a script review popped up a month or so back.  On the plus side, this has a phenomenal cast that may be able to save it, including Gary OldmanSamuel L. Jackson, Jackie Earle Haley, Abbie Cornish and Jay Baruchel.  It is due to commence filming in September and is aiming for a 2013 release date.

  1. I’m A Big CLIVE OWEN Supporter As Well, Sir.
And I Totally Agree. He’s One Of THE Most Underrated Actors Working These Days.
I Was Actually Pulling For Him To Take Over The JAMES BOND Role Before They Decided On DANIEL CRAIG. I Still Think CLIVE Would Be A Helluva Bond. And I’m Kinda Stoked To Think He Could Play A Baddie Again If The Reports Are True About The RoboCop Gig.
I’ve Got My Fingers Crossed For The Man!
    Nice Post, Sir!
