Bryan Singer replacing Matthew Vaughn for X-Men: Days of Future Past

A couple of days ago, it was reported that Matthew Vaughn (X-Men:First Class, Kick-Ass) would not be directing X-Men: Days of Future Past.  I held off on posting that story until we knew if it was true or not.  Well, it seems it was true, as Bryan Singer (Superman Returns, Apt Pupil) is stepping in to take the reins from Vaughn.  Vaughn will still produce the film with Singer.

It really is no big surprise that Singer would step in to take over.  He directed X-Men and X2.  He produced X-Men: First Class.  He is intensely invested in this franchise.  He was also directly involved in the production of Days of Future Past.  So, it just seems that the roles of Singer and Vaughn have switched.  This is no big deal, right?  God, I hope not . . .

I have been a fan of Singer’s since The Usual Suspects.  While I felt he stumbled a bit in Apt Pupil, I feel that he has redeemed himself in everything since.  Even Superman Returns.  I am a big fan of that one.  Yes, really.  I am not joking.  I love it!
