Wolverine joining Days of Future Past?

Hot on the heels of the news that Patrick Stewart (Professor X) and Sir Ian McKellan (Magneto) were joining Bryan Singer‘s X-Men: Days of Future Past comes word that Hugh Jackman is in negotiations to join the film as well.  This is no big surprise.  The man is Wolverine, after all.  The only actor to play Wolverine.  A fan favorite character.  This news comes from THR.

What I find interesting is that this will be his 6th portrayal of the character (7th if you count his cameo in X-Men: First Class).  That makes him the actor who has played the same superhero character the most.  Robert Downey Jr. is close behind, though, having played Tony Stark/Iron Man 5 times, if you count cameos.

The big question now remains as to who else will sign on the dotted line.  James Marsden (Cyclops)?  Halle Berry (Storm)?  Ellen Page (Kitty Pryde)?  Anna Paquin (Rogue)?  Kelsey Grammar (Beast)?  Shawn Ashmore (Iceman)?  Word is that Famke Janssen (Jean Grey) has a cameo in The Wolverine, so it seems likely that she will sign up for this one. Let’s keep our fingers crossed . . .This film is starting to look extremely epic.  More info as it becomes available.

    • It is a good thing that Dougray Scott had to drop out of X-Men because of the excessive filming on Mission: Impossible II. He was originally cast as Wolverine.

I just love the fact that Jackman loves the character so much that he keeps coming back. I’m sure the paychecks don’t hurt, either. lol
