Guillermo del Toro introduces Mama short film

Mama posterI’ve been dying to see the film Mama since I saw the first trailer.  From what I hear, it is a terrifying film and I certainly hope that is the case.  What I didn’t know is that the film is actually based on a Spanish language short film called (what else) Mama.

What we have here is the original short film introduced by Guillermo del Toro, who explains his reasons behind producing the feature film.  Have a watch and I will be back after:

First off, how creepy is the Mama character?  The movements just freaked me out a little.  Anyway, I thought that was a very effective 2 minute short horror film.  It actually gave me the heebie jeebies a little bit . . .What do you think?  Is this getting you ready to see the feature or has it turned you off?  Let me know in the comments.

Mama opens January 18, 2013.
