Harbinger Down: A Kickstarter campaign you should get behind

Harbinger Down conceptI don’t do a lot of Kickstarter pushing on this site.  I really don’t want to get into the habit of constantly posting about the newest Kickstarter campaigns.  Every now and then, though, one seriously piques my interest and I think it is worthwhile to get the word out about it as best I can.

So here we have a Kickstarter for a film to be written and directed by Alec Gillis and Tom Woodruff Jr.  Do those names sound familiar?  They should.  They are practical special effects artists who have worked on this list of films here:

  • Ender’s Game
  • Skyline
  • Alien vs. Predator: Requiem
  • Alien vs. Predator
  • Hollow Man
  • Starship Troopers
  • Jumanji
  • Mortal Kombat
  • Wolf
  • Demolition Man
  • Death Becomes Her
  • Alien 3
  • Tremors
  • Leviathan
  • Pumpkinhead
  • Alien Nation
  • Aliens
  • Cocoon

As you can see, the duo are masters at practical effects and creature work.  Have a look at the Kickstarter pitch video here:

Intrigued?  You should be.  I know I am.  Click over to this link to support this amazing project.  As Alec stated in the video, there is an overabundance of CGI in films today.  Practical creature features always work a lot better than CGI.  So if you are a horror fan and can spare a few dollars, this looks to be the perfect project to get behind.  I know I am going to.  Visit the Kickstarter page here for a lot more information on the project including the cast (LANCE F’N HENRIKSEN) and crew, which includes Oscar winners . . .
