In a statement released via their Facebook page, the first since December of 2012, Lostprophets have called it quits. The statement reads as thus:
To our fans:
After nearly a year of coming to terms with our heartache, we finally feel ready to announce publicly what we have thought privately for some time. We can no longer continue making or performing music as Lostprophets. Your love and support over the past 15 years has been tremendous, and we’ll be forever grateful for all you’ve given us. As we look forward to the next phase of our lives, we can only hope to be surrounded by people as devoted and inspiring as you guys have been.
Jamie, Lee, Luke, Mike, and Stu
The band has remained quiet for nearly a year following the arrest of lead singer Ian Watkins for extremely disturbing and horrifying allegations. From Loudwire:
In December 2012, Watkins and two female accomplices were arrested. The charges brought upon Watkins include allegations of sexually abusing an infant; conspiracy to sexually assault another small child; possession and distribution of child pornography; and possession of “extreme animal pornography.” Watkins has pleaded “not guilty” to all charges, and the singer’s trial is scheduled to commence on Nov. 25.
I would suggest not following this story any farther down the rabbit hole. I have read a little bit about it and it is more truly terrifying than anything you could possibly comprehend.
