There is an interesting article over at THR concerning Brad Pitt’s production company, Plan B. Taken directly from the article, is this little nugget:
Plan B also is developing a sequel to Z, which still is in its nascent stages, though director Marc Forster won’t be back. “We are talking about it,” says Pitt. “We are going to investigate a script. We have a lot of ideas we will cull from. Nobody is writing just yet, but we are compiling our ideas.”
While there is no direct quote from Brad Pitt concerning Forster’s involvement, I find it pretty telling that that is in the article itself. There were rumors surrounding the production of World War Z that Forster and Pitt did not get along. I would suggest clicking through to the article at the THR links and giving it a read. It is good stuff.
While I wasn’t a huge fan of the film, I am interested in seeing where they take the story in a sequel. I also think Marc Forster is a good director; he’s just not a blockbuster director. His smaller films (Finding Neverland, Monster’s Ball, Stranger Than Fiction) are all great. His mega-budget films (Quantum of Solace, World War Z) . . .well, not so much. Let’s hope Forster moves back into his comfort zone and leaves the mega-budget stuff to others.
