In Memoriam: Oderous Urungus aka Dave Brockie

Oderus Urungus

Born David Murray Brockie August 30, 1963 in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

Died March 23, 2014.

Dave Brockie, most famously known as Oderous Urungus, has died of unknown causes.  The lead vocalist of GWAR, Brockie was 50 years old and had fronted the band for three decades.  He was found in his Virginia home.

While I have never been a fan of GWAR, their influence in the metal community should not be ignored.  Randy Blythe, vocalist of Lamb of God, had this to say, which is very telling of the man:

“Right now, if I were to truly honor Dave in the way HE would do it if it were ME that had died, I would make a completely tasteless joke about his death. But I do not have the stomach for that — Dave would, but not me. He never put much stock in ‘limits.'”

Let’s all send good vibes out to his family, fans, and friends to let them know he will not be forgotten.
