In the 1960’s there was a famous sci-fi anthology series, The Twilight Zone. And then there was The Outer Limits. The Outer Limits ran for 2 seasons before it was cancelled. The show enjoyed a modern resurgence in the late 1990’s as a Showtime series before spending it’s last season on the Sci-Fi Channel.
MGM has now hired Scott Derrickson and C. Robert Cargill, writers of the brilliant Sinister and it’s sequel, to pen the new film. From what I gather, it will not be an anthology style film like The Twilight Zone: The Movie or Tales From the Darkside: The Movie. It will instead focus on an episode originally written by Harlan Ellison titled Demon With a Glass Hand.
THR had this to say about the episode in question:
The duo will be tackling time travel, alien invasion and genetic manipulation in adapting the episode, which focused on a man with no memory beyond the last 10 days of his life and a computerized hand who discovers he is from the future. The man is being hunted by an alien race who see him as key to their survival, but he soon discovers a more complex and terrifying truth.
